FULL MOON IN CANCER - MOMMY/DADDY WITHIN

Cosmologically Speaking, this Full Moon in Cancer illuminates an opportunity to reparent ourselves on both a physical and emotional level.  What does this mean?  The moon is most at home in its sign of Cancer.  In fact, it is most home at home.  Cancer's archetype presents the Mother force - the feminine principle, the private, holding, nurturing, feeding, emotional security, intuition, the women in our lives, caring for the young and the elderly, where we come from, the soul.  The symbol 69 represents the arms embracing loved ones.  It is the paragon of emotional intimacy and tenderness.  It rules the breasts, chest and stomach - all vessels of nurturing and comforting.  You can use this cosmic energy to reflect upon your mother, how she carried you in her body to give you life and the ways you have nurtured yourself. Cancer, the moon, extremely sensitive to the environment in which it finds itself, can be highly empathic, absorbing the emotions of others.  The downside of this osmosis is creating a defensive hard shell - the Crab.  
                                                           Reflective Power

The moon is also reflective.  This is the spiritual faculty of the moon...to reflect what is.  In some spiritual meditation practices, such as my own, one is encouraged to have the mind as luminous and tranquil as a full moon reflected on a lake.  The moon knows how to create and find home within itself.
                       
                                          The Father Principle - A Time for Paradigm Shifts

Capricorn, the Sun's occupation right now, carries the Father force - the more public principle or parent who is out in the world.  It is the archetype for protector, giver, manifestation, inspiration, foundations, master, builder, organizer on a large scale, the government.. the president.  Now, more than ever, each of us needs this principle to navigate and thrive in the world.  Capricorn, at its purest, is the manifestation of spirit in physical matter.  It rules the skeleton, the knees, teeth and skin.  The Sea Goat emerges from the depth of the unconscious, the ancient memories, to the top of the mountain.  You can use this cosmic archetype to reflect upon your father, your Creator, as well as all the ways you have built your body, presented some element of yourself in public, provided for yourself and family, protected yourself, your family, country, world or universe.  The downside of this is authoritarianism at its worse.  Capricorn has been infused with Pluto, the great transformer, the use of power, the powerful and the powerless, the illuminator paradigm-shifter...since 2008.  It will be there until 2024.  We are right in the middle of this shift in the governing foundations upon which we have relied for generations. The middle is the messiest time.  It is a time of endings and one of beginnings.  Pluto reveals secrets.   It also pushes the masses to grow, to evolve.  Know that you are not alone in the light.

DESIGN YOUR MANIFESTATION in Your Crystal Palace

Cosmologically Speaking, this New Moon in Capricorn offers the most potent opportunity to plant the seeds of your life's goals - for the archetype of the SeaGoat, Capricorn, describes the depth of our purpose manifested in the material at its highest level.  We just celebrated two holidays that express this, Hanukkah and Christmas.  There was enough oil and the Teacher manifested the greatest expression of love.

The Secret Comes from Ancient Taoism

The art behind the "Secret" we've heard about over the last decade comes from ancient Taoism.  There is a qigong form called The Three Gates of Enlightenment.  It empowers the practitioner to practice the logic of manifestation through the body.  The idea is that everything that exists was once three dots.  The first dot is the idea or the intent.  When the thought is repeated with strong intention it becomes a feeling.  Given a certain amount feeling it becomes a belief.  Over time the held belief eventually becomes a physical manifestation...and so it is that a rock, a tree, a river, a person is a manifestation of these three keys - intent, feeling, and physical manifestation. The sound of this process is Om.  The visual image is the merkabah also known as the Sri Yantra - an upside down pyramid or the receptive, and the upright pyramid, the giver of the idea.  Together these two pyramids seem to interpenetrate each other.  There is a dot in the middle, the bindi, that represents the idea.  These three areas/gates become the embodiment of WISDOM, JOY and HEALTH/WEALTH.  The I Ching and Feng Sui are based upon the principles of these three gates. the trigrams, that emerge from them.  Of the three gates, feeling is the most powerful.  Feeling is the bridge between intent and material manifestation.  It is the magnet.  It is literally this simple and this complex.


                                                            Your Manifestation

What are the ways you would like to express your wisdom, joy and wealth?  Let your imagination flow.  Place yourself in an imaginary crystal palace.  Sit quietly and feel what comes to you from the depths of your ancient self, your greatest ancestors, and your heart in the present.  Capricorn is about fathering these seeds.  Go into your imaginary crystal palace everyday and nurture these three seeds daily.  Watch how these seeds show development in two weeks on the full moon.  Look for even the smallest sign.  When you make this connection you are consciously on your way to embracing your God-given power to manifest.  We all use it. daily unwittingly  It remains unconscious until we pick it up and consciously become the architects of our lives.

GLOBAL AWAKENING - Personal Goals

Bruce Lee, the great martial artist philosopher took his top students to the beach.  He had them circle around him.  he then squat down and drew a line in the sand.  He had his students scratching their heads and boggling their minds by asking them this question: "How do you make this line shorter without touching it?"

After they could not come up with an immediate answer he drew a longer line parallel to it.  I share this story quite frequently with my students.  I love how most of the women have a different answer.  They usually suggest moving away from it... like being on a vacation or higher up like looking at it from an airplane... or higher.

Big Mind; Small Mind

Cosmologically Speaking, the Full Moon in Gemini, lights up communication on a personal as well as global scale.  Sagittarius holds the "big picture" perspective.  It's essence says "I see."  Gemini uses the logical cognitive mind.  It connects the dots in front of it, in its immediate environment and says "I think and I communicate."  To many of us, the world seems to be in a state of chaos.  All the changes, the results of the elections, man's inhumanity to humanity and so much more, generate a sweeping atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.  The archetype of this full moon, big mind, small mind, can be used to discover what has come to light on a global level and, equally, what has come to light on a personal level.

Still Purging

A few blogs ago I mentioned that we are in a time of purging the paradigms that have governed us.  All that is not in service of our evolution will be brought to the surface and cleaned out.  There will be many surprises.  Up close this feels like chaos and destruction.  From the bigger picture perspective it makes sense.  The more that comes up, the faster we can collectively purge what is keeping us from moving into a more evolved state.  The hallmark of a more evolved consciousness is a more inclusive heart - one that is collectively empathic and responsive to the needs of the many, rather than the few.  The beauty and the challenge is our multimedia platform means for communicating relays some of the behind the scenes events as well as lies.  In another time what may have taken decades to discover is swiftly revealed.  That which was kept secret (Scorpio/power/politics) is made public (Sagitarrius/releasing limitations/uplifting humanity) by media (Gemini/communication in many languages).

Time to Mature

As one of the younger societies we, Americans (not referring to the original Americans). are relatively young in the world.  We are being pushed to grow up - to mature in our awareness.  It is rather like a child who has experienced the world through crawling.  The moment the child stands upright, its perspective on the world changes as does its life.  We are learning to do that spiritually.  We are being pushed, sometimes kicking and screaming, into a bigger perspective on how the world has been operating.  Our childlike innocence is transforming in the glaring light of the bigger picture.  For instance, I am struck by art imitating life imitating art - Alexander Hamilton, the hottest play out on Broadway now, focuses on a man whose highly relevant essay on how the electors should take a deliberate role in protecting against a foreign government interfering in our government processes, is eerily resonant.  

Time to Connect the Dots

With so much to think about Sagittarius, the part horse, part human archer archetype of consciousness, would have us use our intuitive minds and gut instincts to shoot the arrow of our personal goals and then go there.  On this full moon find as many ways as possible to communicate your goals that will contribute to your expanded awareness and how you may contribute to the bigger picture.  Look at the people with whom you have communicated over the last few days, today, and the next few days to come.  They are each part of a code for your evolution. ...a snapshot of your evolutionary consulate. Connect those dots.  See your "longer line", your role in the bigger picture.  Then shoot your goal arrows through writing or speaking.  The more you do this, the better you will feel.

Enjoy your bigger perspective.  You will know you have connected with it when you feel joy for this is the purpose of the bigger picture.

YOU, CONSCIOUSNESS; YOU, TEACHER

Cosmologically Speaking, this New Moon in Sagittarius, is the time to plant the seeds of your intention for what you want grow into.  The Sagittarius archetype awakens our intuitive knowing beyond book learning.  It represents our desire to expand beyond our limitations through higher education, the big picture, intuition, philosophy, confidence, optimism, teaching, preaching, public speaking, publishing and sport.

Consciousness  

As the days are getting shorter, winter draws us in and darkness seems to have the upper hand.   What better time to go inside ourselves to the inner light.   Sagittarius is the fire sign that has been described as a candle that brings its magic into the moment.  It is pure inspiration.  Consciousness is the part of Self that is integrated into the details of our daily life.  It is the light you bring to every moment, your ethical and moral attitudes which are driven by your beliefs.  It is who is looking behind your eyes, who is listening inside your ears, who is feeling inside your heart, etc.  Belief is thought that is repeated over a period of time - usually three months or more.  It is the bridge between thought and physical manifestation.  In other words, when thought congeals into feeling in your heart, it becomes belief.  Belief is the bridge and the magnet that brings your thoughts, your vision into "reality."  It is a known fact that we tend to think ten thousand thoughts a day and 90+% of them are negative self or other denigrating ones. Yikes! Just think of what is being manifested!  Consciousness is contagious in the fields we occupy.  This means our attitudes and beliefs are impacting everything in our environments.  It could very well be that each us energy-wielding beings is the universe expanding itself.  What do you want to see grow in yourself, your environment, your family? Write it down and/or record it as your New Moon intent.

You Are the Teacher and Preacher

My mother told me that when I was an infant my first words were not 'mama or dada."  My first three words were 'Dee da Yights!' ('See the Lights!').  

A helpful teacher is one who has discovered something that is edifying and whose heart's desire is to share the discovery... to spread the gospel.  Think about the major influences in your life.  What did they activate in you?  What has been inspired?  What lifted you out of where you were stuck?  How did this inspiration feed your beliefs?  Remember, what you believe you attract - no matter what the surrounding circumstances.  This is a time to plant the seeds of ways you want to bring light to your life.  What is your vision of how your life can be?  Once you know and feel it the universe gets to work.  This is the beginning of the basic meaning of spirituality - that which puts you in touch with your ever-light, ever-expanding Self.  Spirit leads you into that which frees, rather than toward that which imprisons you.  Sagittarius is the archer, half human, half horse - who shoots the arrow just for the shear joy of discovering where it takes you and all the experiences in between.  Spirit expands you from where you once were in your awareness.  What are you teaching? Where do you want to shoot your arrows?  

With all that is going on in the world we need light to proliferate more than ever.  Anyone weakling can bully.  Any ill sadist bring darkness and pain.  Why not be the light that you are? It takes real courage.  If nothing else, use the darkness to launch you into more light ...like the mud launches the beautiful lotus.

DAMAGE DONE, ANOTHER SUN SHALL RISE

Cosmologically Speaking, what can I say?  The Super Beaver Full Moon will appear very close to the earth.  It hasn't been this way since 1948 and won't be again until 2034.   Pain and fear in so many hearts.  This Super Beaver Full Moon in Taurus puts its spotlight on an apparent seismically transformed ground - one that has shaken and shocked the world. 

 In my last full moon blog titled IS IT ARMAGEDDON or PURIFICATION, I mentioned that we would have surprises, and so we have.  Before the light of day shows itself that transformation can bring, we have to purge the deepest social elements that have prevented our renaissance -- fear, bigotry, misogyny, and corruption.  In this case it has come out of the shadows into the glaring light.  We are having to look at what diversity means and how we must amend it to embrace all needs...a clarion call to stretch the embrace of diversity.  What have we not addressed in this great nation of ours.  

Self-Sabotaging Definitions

Ironically, it is time to recognize how our previous definitions can sting and sabotage us.  For instance, in our country we say that anyone can run for the powerful office of president.  With no discerning qualifying parameters this has meant even one who hurts and slanders differing factions of our society, and even violates the very values our country was built upon, can get away with ascending to this power.  We are in the strongest concentration of the archetypal meaning of this Scorpio month, personal power and politics.  Look at what President Obama accurately describes as the "First Americans" are going through.  I know from my own heritage that the Cherokee and Iroquois Nations lived the founding tenets of democracy.  How have they been treated?  Consciousness is being brought forth in this shock and trauma and will continue to be until we get it.  

With Pluto flexing its muscles in the archetypal area of what governs us - Capricorn - Patriarchy, old paradigms are being purged and displaced.  In the purging part of the process, we are not always in favor of how it does it.  Pluto, the archetypal forces for pushing the light of the soul through the limiting illusion of personality is doing its part to usher us into the Age of Aquarius.  This is personal and global.  More surprises will come in its wake.  Sometimes it is the startling contrast to what we deeply believe that becomes the catalyst for the changes we must take.  It is time to take a good look at what serves our evolution and to purge ourselves of what does not.  How we do this is up to each of us.  We no longer have the luxury of dwelling under fuzzy illusions.  We have to clarify our core values, do our part to effect healthy change and reform our communities based on our collective insights.  

Healing the Trauma - What Can We Do?

For balance and healing we can look to the opposite of Scorpio, Taurus.  This is the sign the moon is in on the 14th of November and the message is big, like the moon.  First, take care of the body.  Give it what it wants and needs even if it seem naughty.  Activate the pleasure principle.  Be sensual. Appease all the senses.  Listen to the music that nurtures and inspires.  Enjoy the smell of home cooking and beautiful flowers, the earth, the gardens, aromatherapy oils, the fragrance of your your lover, your pet, your family members, your garden.  Sage your home to clear out the negative energy.  Look for beauty in any silver lining no matter how small it seems. Feel all that you feel.  Express it in your own way.  Be full of gratitude for your blessings as we come into the season of Thanksgiving.  Give it your all.  Rest, dream and regenerate.  Build your financial security.  Lie down on the ground to feel the support of Mother Earth.  From this grounding in the present, in the now, you can begin to feel the power of self worth, to find your way, to do your part.  The quality of our personal and political solutions will be built upon the foundation of the quality of care we give ourselves.

  Be as Present as Possible - Love and Cherish Each Other

  We may not be able to do anything about the past or the future but we can glean the jewels of wisdom from what we have learned about the past.  Be more vigilant in the present realizing that the future is a flowering of the present.  Love and cherish each other, not so much in your words, as in your actions.  As Ram Dass so aptly taught "Be here now."  Much may seem topsy turvy for awhile.  It behooves us to stay grounded and as my first book says, once you are standing in your sacred ground of being and sense of Self Worth:  STAND YOUR GROUND!.   

Last Words of Encouragement

Let us put our positive thoughts forward that this person who has no experience in the political offices and military can connect with his heart and soul to be a fresh empty vessel to receive the needs of the many and become a leader we can become proud of.  If he doesn't, we must remain vigilant and strategic in our response to hold his feet to the fire of our deepest values.  

As Song Writer Cris Williamson sings in her song Like An Island Rising- "Like an island rising coming slowly up from sea (the subconscious knowing), causing tidal waves to be and causing some catastrophe, the damage done, another sun shall rise and shine again.  The bird is swimming in the air.  The fish is flying freely."

ILLUMINATE YOUR DEEPEST HEART'S DESIRE

Cosmologically Speaking, and strategically speaking, this New Moon in Scorpio is the most potent time of year to illuminate your deepest intentions.  Generally, new moons are the most effective times to plant the seeds of your intentions.  This one carries exponential power as the Scorpio archetype is the very essence of transformation.  It is ruled by highly concentrated Pluto.  Pluto is all about power - personal power, imbalances in social power, political power, sexual power, financial power, spiritual power and all ways power is utilized for transformation.  Think about the potency of one drop of Plutonium.  This is true of any intentions you set into motion at this time.  Scorpio is deep and secretive.  It only shows the tip of its iceberg.

I love that this new moon falls on the first day of Diwali, the Hindu Festival of "Rows of Lights" and the beginning of the Indian new year.  It is celebrated by lighting rows of candles.  Some turn all the lights on in the home and leave them on for the duration of Diwali's five days of light.

IS IT ARMAGEDDON or PURIFICATION for BALANCE?

Cosmologically Speaking, on a large scale, the Full Moon in Aries illuminates that polar division between war and peace within ourselves, in our relationships and, ultimately, with the world.   The full moon in Aries with the Sun in Libra is all about all relationships.  Isn't war and peace about how we relate to ourselves and to each other?  Due to the multiple themes in this full moon's archetypal messages this blog will be longer than most.  You may find some more relevant than others.

Ascending into the Consciousness of the Heart

As we go, some of us, kicking and screaming, toward integrating the consciousness of the heart, we will have to discover that in the garden of life there is room for all the flowers. Love for all and the desire to be in harmony with nature, our own natures, and those of others will promote us into more of our potential as divine-human hybrids.  Respect becomes the pervasive way of approaching each other. Without going into too much astro-speak, the transpersonal planetary archetypes are squaring off with our personal archetypes of emotion, passion and ways of communicating and integrating information and each other.

Without going into too much astro-speak, the transpersonal planetary archetypes are squaring off with our personal archetypes of emotion, passion and ways of communicating and integrating information and each other.  Suffice it to say, the transpersonal planetary archetypes for social transformation and progress are squaring off with our personal archetypes of emotion, passion and the ways we communicate and integrate information.

Pluto, the great purifier/transformer has been bringing issues of abuse of authority, government and power to a head since January 27th 2008.  In the external world, all the old governing paradigms are being nudged, in no uncertain terms, to  purify and evolve.  When this happens the old ways often attempt to assert themselves with great vehemence. On a more personal note, the resounding clarion call inside each of us is to discover what it means to stay true to our souls generally and within our relationships.  Sound like a tall order?  It is!

Ironically it will require the strongest of the feminine soft power and the most gentle and refined of the masculine power to balance the scales.  Given that Pluto is in Capricorn this gender tango will have to play out in the most public arenas until new more balanced structures are integrated into society.  Equal pay and abolition of sexual harassment and the ways we embrace the dispossessed are at the tip of the iceberg to this societal evolutionary bath.  

We Are in for Surprises

We are in for a wide array of surprises.  Some of them will be shocking.  Given the arenas of the transpersonal planetost will have global ramifications. Where we do not listen nature will help us in her mysterious ways.  Our human culture is being pushed to transform at the deepest diseased elements of society.  These elements are the lack of balance between the receptive  and active dynamics of our lives.  Look at the most glaring example, of late, of this imbalance in the extreme, that is dominating the news.  The actions of the aggressive high profile alpha Mars archetype on the vulnerable Venusian feminine.  The unjust imbalance is shouting to be heard. Keep in mind that a major part of our ascent into our evolution involves a more expanded use of heart.  This will necessitate a combination of increased awareness that leads to discernment as well as respect for the beauty and value of diversity.  

What do the words Woman, Women, Female and She Have in Common?

It has always been curious to me how inclusive the words woman, women, female and she are.  All carry two words and two genders.  The spectrum of gender identity may be drawn from this inclusive phenomenon.  Interestingly, it is said that the founders of judo (the martial art of the gentle way) and aikido (the martial art that expresses the way of love and harmony) on their death beds, when asked by their most advanced students what the secret to the arts were, said "If you want to know the secret watch women in their daily lives - the ways they interact with their young, the ways they care for their families, the ways they support life - these are the underlying principles of the arts."  Surely a full integration of the feminine will balance the scales of how we may habitually conduct ourselves on a daily basis.
                                   

The Freedom to Be More of Yourself

Those who have endeavored to deal with relationship issues to improve the quality of the relationship will find rewards beyond what was desired.  Issues that have not been addressed will be magnified. 

                                                         
On the more personal level, issues related to the needs of the individual and those of the relationship(s) will be highlighted, especially during this weekend.  Old issues in this department will rear their insistent heads, sometimes crying out like a baby needing to be held.  Each of us will find ourselves asking and indeed, negotiating, how can I stay true to my soul and my relationship(s)?  I love what one of my favorite philosophers, Joseph Campbell, said about what happened to him when he and his wife married.  He said he became freer to become more of himself in the marriage!  This is the harmony that is possible when one is in harmony with Self.  Without this harmony it becomes all too reflexive to project our inner relationship with ourselves onto those closest to us.   The notion of the other dissolves when we relate from our souls.   It is not about becoming co-dependent, rather, interdependent as we truly are.  Hopefully we will not have to have harsh nudges to remind us. 

In the Final Analysis

There are helpful modalities to smooth over the uncomfortable edges that can accompany our growth. Neptune's tools - meditation, music, conscious rest after activity and dreamwork soften the polarizing illusions and usher us to be the fulcrum for the scales.  Each of us holds the power to make a big difference.  After all, the whole is as good as the quality of each of its parts.  

Here is a daily two-step mantra:  How do you listen and understand and how do you choose to love?

Dr. Khaleghl Quinn enjoys helping people become more fulfilled with her Soul Consultations.  She has been helping people empower themselves all over the world.  She is a Spiritual Teacher, Counselor, Qigong Master and Composer.  She teaches her Lotus Being Meditation in Montclair and at Sagrada Sacred Arts.  She also leads Spiritual Sabbaticals at the School for Applied Theology (SAT) in Berkeley.
